In 2022, after an experience Hugue had in a local hospital in Cameroon and shared with Arthur, both became obsessed with the idea of making quality medicines accessible to all in Cameroon and Africa in general. This resulted in the creation of KapFou that same year. After exploring the various technical solutions on their own, Sarah joined the team as the lead developer with the personal intention to make KapFou a success so that it might help Africa as a continent.
KapFou comes from “Kap” meaning money & “Fou” meaning medicine in Medumba (Bagangte), an African language from Cameroon.
KapFou is a platform for medical remittances. We capitalise on the African diaspora to finance the local purchase of medicines which are often too expensive compared to local salaries.
While there are many ways to send money to Africa, our platform provides trust and security to users. Trust because the money sent is used effectively for the purpose for which it was sent and security because the sick person will buy quality medicines through our network of pharmacies, thus avoiding the dangerous street medicines that kill people.
